After studies in biochemistry, DNA sequencing and molecular structure, Sandrine CHAMAYOU obtained her PhD in biology of reproduction and development in the University of Medicine of Montpellier (France).In 1995, she set up ART and molecular biology laboratories in the IVF unit of the University Hospital V. Emanuele in Catania (Italy). She performed the first preimplantation genetic diagnosis on b-thalassemia and sickle cell disease in Italy (2000).

Since 1998, she trains and teaches to students from the cellular biology and biochemistry courses of the University of studies of Catania (Italy).

Since 1998, she is the director of laboratories (IVF, Cryopreservation, Preimplantation genetic diagnosis) of the infertility UMR-Centro HERAin Sant’Agata Li Battiati (Catania-Italy) and the responsible ISO 9001:2018 Quality management systems.

Her areas of interest and bibliography cover all the fields of IVF such as embryo culture, embryo time-lapse monitoring, gamete and embryo cryopreservation, molecular conservation in frozen cells, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, quality management in IVF.
